The North Aurora Village Board unanimously approved a special events permit for the North Aurora Lions Club at the Village Board meeting Monday.

The North Aurora Lions Club is seeking to be host to a drive-thru flu shot event Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Village’s property at the old activity center parking lot on the corner of State Street and Lincolnway. The event requires a special events permit due to the fact it is on Village-owned property.

The special events permit application has been approved, however, the appropriate certificate of insurance has yet to be received. The Board still can approve this special events request dependent upon receiving said Certificate of Insurance before the event.

• Unanimously approved was a resolution to oppose a short wave radio station on Seavey Road. Kane County government is reviewing a petition for a short wave radio station. The radio station would have three antennas with two of them 184 feet tall.

Steve Bosco, Village administrator, said the nearest property line is approximately 1,700 feet from the antennas.

The area is in the Village’s future planning and zoning areas causing Village officials concern of difficulty for potential future development.

Kane County is set to vote on it October 13.

The Village of North Aurora is set to be host to its first ever Village-wide scavenger hunt for Village residents. Residents are encouraged to travel around North Aurora to solve clues and riddles to find locations throughout town. The objective is to get the thrill of solving riddles and exploring North Aurora and possibly winning a prize.

The scavenger hunt is set to officially start Friday, Oct. 16, when the Village will release the first clue on the Village Facebook page and website. Participants will need to solve a riddle to uncover the next clue that will lead to a total of ten locations around town. All clues will be hidden on public property.

A team wins if it solves all ten riddles and finds all ten locations. There will be guaranteed prizes to the first three teams to complete the scavenger hunt and any other team that successfully completes it by the final date of November 9 will be entered into a drawing for a fourth place prize. The prizes are: A giftcard to any North Aurora business in the amounts of: $100 (first place), $50 (second place), $25 (third place) or $25 (fourth place drawing).

The rules for the scavenger hunt are:

  2. Please do not remove or tamper with clues.
  3. Please do not post or share riddles or locations.
