North Aurora Village Board Meeting: Recreational pot not a hit with everyone

The North Aurora Village Board listens to North Aurora attorney James Jensen at the North Aurora Village Board meeting Monday. Jensen expressed anger about Verilife marijuana dispensary in North Aurora. He criticized the Board for passing the special use permit for the dispensary to sell recreational marijuana products stating they knew the facility wasn’t large enough. He asked how a high volume retail business on busy Route 31, with no turn lanes, traffic control devices, and lack of parking, was approved. Two business owners in the building at 161 S. Lincolnway shared similar frustration with lack of communication from the building’s landlord and situation. Jensen’s office buiding is two buildings north of Verilife...
…Village president Dale Berman said he feels confident the Village did their homework and did their work along the way. Obviously it didn’t turn out as nice as they thought it might. He stated the worst is over and Verilife wants to find another location and the Village is working with them to find another location...
Trustee Mark Carroll defended the Village staff members and said they have been working on this since the Summer and shared the meeting agendas on the Village’s website and social media. Carroll said he empathizes with the business owners, but no one came to the five Village Board meetings to object to the special use or zoning. Jason Crane/The Voice
