Dear editor;
I write to comment on the letter in The Voice, January 23, at thevoice.us/remarks-follow-resignation-from-lwv.
From their letter: “The League (of Women Voters) was begun as a nonpartisan political and membership organization, and it remains so today.”
The letter was signed by five officers of various chapters covering Aurora and Naperville.
My specialty is research and writing based on experience. The League of Women Voters’ (LWV) existence is legal, but publicly, not always honest. Given my age and decades as a political junkie, from Chicago to Springfield, the LWV was always known to be rooted in the Democratic Party.
Researching the political registrations of these women to the Democrats suggests partisanship to me, and probably The Voice readers too. A secret better kept under wraps.
Based on this information, I wrote a letter to each of the women inviting them to have coffee with me, my treat. Letters were sent to the main P.O. Box. Response: Three returned unopened. Two, not returned, suggesting silence was to be their weapon.
The LWV does take positions on proposed laws. For instance, it rejected the bill that would allow teachers to have guns for safety. (I agree). Interested persons in the LWV positions on bills over the years can check it out. I did not check out the LWV’s position on life and parental bills because the Democratic Party has shown its stands by their voting records. If you remain a Democrat given this knowledge, your silence gives consent.
“…It is from the overflow of the heart that the mouth speaks.” Matthew 12:34.
I still would like to meet with these Democrats for coffee. I am used to these rejections. My offers have been turned down for decades.
