On phone calls, shutdown, cheerfulness

Dear editor;

In these trying times, candidates for office, service companies, using phone solicitation, charities for police and fire, publishers, insurance companies seeking business for new Medicare seniors, all should cease their phone calls.

Since March 12, I have not had any of those annoying sales phone calls, however, suffered running to pick up the phone with no caller ID to hear silence. The next call the person did speak to let me know when the primary election is and I explained I had voted early and ask to please not call again. The woman explained she was on an auto-dialer and could take me off her list, but not entire list of those solicitors.

Voters need to be aware those machines do malfunction. If so, be sure to tell the election judge before casting your ballot. One cannot get another chance to correct the omissions. I was surprised the State held the election, considering the pandemic. If restaurants and bars have been shut down, why would it be safe to go outside to vote?

Health concerns likely will provide complicated concerns, although I have seen a wonderful amount of cheerfulness, cooperation, and even courteous drivers.
