Dear editor;

The sympathetic media coverage of Stephanie Kifowit’s so-called courage in “demanding” fellow Democrat speaker Mike Madigan’s resignation borders on the bizarre.

Before we salute the brave and selfless Aurora State representative for standing up to the House speaker, perhaps her constituents and newspaper reporters should examine these political allies’ close political relationship over the years more closely.

We voters need to be more discerning these days.

One reporter credits her as saying, “After weighing the pros and cons of making such a forceful statement, (Kifowit) preferred to use the term “accepting-of-whatever-comes-her- way” media coverage.

Indeed! So, how much do you think Stephanie Kifowit has “accepted coming her way” from Madigan-controlled political contribution committees during her last eight years?: $20,000 $40,000, $100,000, $200,000, $500,000, over just eight years?

No, Stephanie Kifowit has reported on her D-2 State contribution disclosure reports accepting $791,858.46 just from Mr. Madigan’s committees alone, i.e. $235,715.32 from Democratic Majority Fund controlled by her political sponsor; plus $490,968.95 from Democratic Party of Illinois, chairman, Mike Madigan; plus $65,154.46 from Friends from Michael Madigan.

No wonder State representative Stephanie Kifowit told the reporter that there were times she would “wake up and be sick to her stomach” as she thought about the most recent Illinois scandal.

She voted for him for speaker four times, to empower him.

Then, our reporter and editors dutifully passed on this fabricated “profile in courage” to us, their gullible audience, with a quote in the headline of Kifowit’s “Sleepless Nights”.

If she feels he’s so corrupt, return or donate the $791,858.46!

Sweet dreams! Rather, thick as thieves, until they’re not.

Sincerely,

Chris Lauzen, Aurora
