NASCAR, Cup Series, Coca-Cola 600, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Concord, N.C, Sunday, May 26.
There was severe rain-delay for more than an hour until the race was called and Christopher Bell was the winner. In second was Brad Keselowski, William Byron in third, Tyler Reddick in fourth, and Denny Hamlin in fifth.
Pole-sitter was Ty Gibbs and he led most of stage 1. William Byron got past Gibbs at the end of the stage to win the stage.
During stage 1, Kyle Busch suffered a loose wheel penalty and started stage 2 one lap behind.
Kyle Larson’s car was being driven by Illinois driver Justin Aulguier because Larson had not made it back from the Indy 500 race. The second stage was won by Bell.
A rain delay was issued and Bell won the race.
NASCAR All-Star Race, North Wilkesboro Speedway, North Wilkesboro, N.C., Sunday, May 19.
The All-Star Open was won by Ty Gibbs which gave him the pole position for the All-Star race.
Joe Logano won the 40th All-Star race, along with the $1 million pot. Following in second was Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch in third, Kyle Larson in fourth, and Ryan Blaney in fourth.
This race had a rain delay due to standing water. Some areas in the pits were two feet under water.
In stage 1, Austin Cendric slid sideways and wrecked.
Ricky Stenhouse closes the door on Kyle Busch, who scraped the wall. Busch was not badly damaged and continued. Busch later tapped Stenhouse in the rear, hit the wall and was of the race. After the race Busch and Stenhouse got into a scuffle in the pits.
The first 100 laps went to Joe Logano. Ty Gibbs spun out with help of Kyle Busch with 82 laps to go.
There was a mandatory yellow with 50 laps to go with soft and hard tires being used in this race.
Logano did not go in the pits for tires and it helped him win the race.
NASCAR Cup Series, Goodyear 400, Darlington Raceway, Darlington S.C., Sunday, May 12.
Keselowski won the race and broke Ford’s winless streak this season. Following in second was Ty Gibbs, Josh Berry was in third, Denny Hamlin in fourth, and Ryan Briscoe in fifth.
The pole was won by Reddick.
The first stage was won by Kyle Larson in a Terry Labonte throwback decorated Kellogg’s Chevy.
Reddick won the second stage over Keselowski. Larson spun out and hit the wall on lap 254 in turn three and was out of the race. Chris Buescher took the lead with 15 laps to go. Tyler Reddick led more than 120 laps.
Brad Keselowski took the win.
NASCAR Cup Series, Advent Health 400, Kansas City, Kan., Sunday, May 5.
Kyle Larson won in a photo finish against Chris Buesher, in the closest finish in NASCAR history with a one-inch margin.
Chris Bell took the pole over Ross Chastain. Following in third was Chase Elliott, Martin Truex, Jr. was in fourth, Hamlin in fifth.
Chastain was first or second throughout most of the first stage, however, Hamlin won the stage.
In the second stage Buesher passed Larson with five laps to go to win the stage.
In the third stage Harrison Burton absorbed four flat tires early in third stage, with excessive spin.
A few laps later Logano spun out and needed a tow. The caution allowed Larson to get to the lead.
Final pit work from Larson’s team got him back to second place with Buescher in the lead. Larson was there with Buescher at the finish line, but Buescher was ahead by just one inch, the closest measured NASCAR finish.
