The Oswego Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (OCPAAA) wrapped up 2025 with their annual recognition party at Riverside Pizza, celebrating a year of incredible community service and volunteerism.
Over the past year, these dedicated volunteers contributed more than 500 hours supporting the Oswego Police Department in a variety of roles, including patrol assistance, traffic control, community events, pedestrian safety, adjudication, and more. Their work also includes assisting at the monthly Administrative Adjudication Hearings, where members help with check-in and ensure the proceedings run smoothly. Select members who receive additional training provide extra support, all on a volunteer basis.
To strengthen their skills and enhance their service to the community, OCPAAA members participate in monthly training provided by the Oswego Police Department and other local agencies, including the Oswego Fire Department, Kendall County EMA, and Kendall County Search and Rescue. Training topics have included Severe Weather Spotter, Traffic Direction, Search and Rescue, First Aid/AED certifications, and more. Many members also pursue additional training on their own to continually expand their ability to serve.
“We’re extremely grateful for the commitment and hard work of our OCPAAA members,” said Police Chief Jason Bastin. “They truly embody the spirit of community partnership and make a real difference every day.”
