Even though there were no playoffs in high school football in the six-game Spring season this year, the Oswego High School 21-14 victory over host Minooka Friday was played with the intensity and heart of an Autumn playoff game.
The two titans were in a battle literally until the last second of the game. Oswego took the lead, 21-14, with less than two minutes remaining. Minooka drove down to the Oswego 10-yard line with only seconds remaining in the game. The Oswego defense successfully defended the end zone on the last play of the game that was snapped with only one second on the clock.
Evan Brown was force to be reckoned with on both defense and offense. Oswego’s offense had a big ground game. The defense was led by Brown and defensive tackle Henry Smith.
Oswego finished 5-1 and won the Southwest Prairie Conference West championship. Minooka finished 4 -2.
