Oswego’s Little White School Museum is winding up its celebration of the Christmas holiday with an on-line presentation of “12 Days of Christmas Ornaments,” and will feature photos of commemorative ornaments sold as fundraisers for more than a decade by the Oswego Chamber of Commerce.
The ornaments each carry an original artwork created by an Oswego artist of an historic structure in the community. They were sold during each year’s Oswego Christmas Walk.
“We were looking for a way to complete our celebration of the Winter holiday season and thought it would be nice to feature these historic ornaments for the community’s enjoyment,” said Museum manager Tina Heidrich.
The first ornament, which featured a pen and ink drawing of the historic Little White School Museum, was posted online on the day after Christmas, Saturday, Dec. 26. Ornaments will be posted daily on the Museum’s website for the 12 days after December 26 to ring in the New Year.
To see the ornament presentation, go to the museum web site at littlewhiteschoolmuseum.org and click on “12 Days of Christmas Ornaments” in the right sidebar.
While you’re at the website, Heidrich said, be sure to check out the “Taste of History” Christmas cookie recipes and the Museum’s “Toys from the Attic” virtual exhibit of Christmas toys, available by clicking links in the Museum web page’s right sidebar.
The Little White School Museum, 72 Polk Street, Oswego, is closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but will reopen as soon as conditions permit. The museum is a joint project of the Oswegoland Park District and the not-for-profit Oswegoland Heritage Association.
