Oswego Senior Center received news July 1 that its lease had to be terminated as of July 31. Due to the need of more space to accommodate students safely during this unprecedented pandemic, Oswego School District, OSC landlord, found it necessary to reclaim all space available to them. OSC enjoyed and appreciated the most amazing facility at 156 E. Washington Street for 11 years.
Graciously, Oswego Township came forward for a very timely solution for space for OSC. Brian LeClercq, Oswego Township Supervisor worked quickly and diligently with OSC Board of Directors to offer commercial property owned by Owsego Township. A lease has been arranged and Oswego Senior Center is moving the end of July to 84 Templeton Drive, suites 104 and 105. Templeton Drive is accessible from Plainfield Road, southwest of downtown Oswego.
Although the new space is smaller at 4,176 square feet, OSC plans to offer area participants as many classes and programs as publicly safe during COVID-19 pandemic. Like many senior centers, OSC is actively in the process of planning on-site programs that will accommodate safe health and social distancing practices at the new location. Virtual classes and activities continue to engage participation for many from the safety of their home.
New updates and class information will be promoted at www.oswegoseniorcenter.org as available. Oswego Senior Center appreciates Oswego Township extraordinary support and looks forward to continuing to serve our seniors and community. For additional information, please call 630-554-5602.
