“(Law) officers that feel good perform better.”
To aid officers, Kelly Krauchun, detailed Bank the Blue, a Chicago-based nonprofit that offers a network of mental health resources for Illinois law officers.
Krauchun, a Bank co-founder, addressed Citizens Police Academy Alumni of Aurora at APD headquarters February 15.
She added, “These partnerships enable police officers to be proactive in their mental and behavioral health.”
Founded in 2020, Bank the Blue was launched by Chicago business professionals with close ties to the law enforcement community.
The group’s mission is to provide funding and access for mental health services to Illinois law enforcement officers dealing with multiple psychosocial stressors both on and off the job.
She said Bank the Blue partners with certified mental health providers who specialize in trauma therapy, crisis management and evidence-based therapies for first responders.
Krauchun added that her group collaborates with Copline, a nonprofit that trains retired Illinois officers to answer hotline calls from officers experiencing daily stressors.
