North Aurora Village trustee Laura Curtis expresses interest at the North Aurora Village Committee of the Whole meeting Monday in having the permit to replace front doors eliminated. Trustee Curtis stated she recently paid $92 for a permit to have a new front door installed at her house. She asked director of Community Development for North Aurora, Mike Toth, why a permit is necessary for something that doesn’t change the structure of the house. Curtis asked why permit fees are on a sliding scale with the cost of the project using an example of $10,000 worth of windows installed vs. $20,000 permits being more expensive. Toth said that’s what he inherited and agreed to look into it.
