The Plano Community Library, 15 W. North Street, will be host to many events. For more information and to register, visit planolibrary.info or call 630-552-2009.

• Knit and Crochet Group, Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon.
The informal group works on its own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. Participants bring their own supplies. No registration is required.

• Free English as a Second Language classes, Mondays and Thursdays, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.. First class was September 5.
Led by volunteer Betty Ross, this informal group meets to develop and increase English language speaking and reading skills. Newcomers are welcome any time.

• Movie Night, Monday, Sept. 30, 6:30 p.m. to 8:40 p.m..
With shelters full, homeless individuals take over the Cincinnati Public Library to seek refuge from the bitter cold. Emilio Estevez stars as the librarian caught between the homeless patrons and the authorities. Rated PG-13. 2018.

• Greener, Cleaner: Do it yourself (DIY) Cleaning Products, Monday, Oct. 14, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m..
Attendees can learn how to make greener, safer cleaners, in this hands-on workshop. The group uses simple, non-toxic ingredients such as soap, baking soda, vinegar, borax, citric acid, and essential oils to make disinfectant, dishwasher detergent and laundry soap. Everyone will go home with samples. Registration is required. Call 630-552-2030 to register.

• Spirits And Séances: Victorian Spiritualism, Monday, Oct. 28, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m..
In the Victorian era, interest in Spiritualism was fueled by the deaths of more than 600,000 Civil War soldiers. Attendees can learn how mediums talked to the spirits; see photos of ghosts taken by spirit photographers, and those who set out to discredit them as charlatans.

Kids events

• Independent Storytime for 3s, 4s, & 5s, Monday, Sept. 30, 10:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m..
For independent three to five year-olds, without an adult. It will feature simple stories, music, movement activities, and a simple craft. Parents must remain in the Kids’ Library during the program. Registration is required. Call 630-552-2025 or stop at the Kids’ Library Desk to register.

• Read And Play Everyone, Monday, Sept. 30, 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 1, 10:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m..
For ages two to six, with an adult. Kids can drop in for fun with stories, songs, and free play. No registration is required.

• Independent Storytime for 4s and 5s, Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m..
For independent four and five year-olds only, without an adult. It will feature longer stories, activities, music, and a craft. Parents must remain in the Kids’ Library during the program. Registration is required. Call 630-552-2025 or stop at the Kids’ Library Desk to register.

• Rhyme Time, Wednesday, Oct. 2, 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., or 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m..
For babies to age three accompanied by an adult. The lap sit storytime will feature action rhymes, finger plays, songs, movement activities, a simple story, and parent-child reading time. Active adult participation is an integral part of this program.
