Poem: An Overseas Valentine

Share this article:

I would not have wanted it this way,
Being here, with you so far away.
Memories are giving me, at least,
Precious moments on which I can feast.
Time and distance then are dimmed somewhat
Easing this life in which I’ve been caught.
Loving you remains my heart’s desire,
In which there’s an undiminished fire.
Saying that “I love you” is to me
Selfish in itself, lest you agree.
So remembrances on both sides when combined
Are the best enjoyments we can find.
