Poem: It Happens All The Time

The way people think, and the way that they act,
Their habits are ingrained, and that is sheer fact.
Despite what the rules say, they won’t accept “No”,”
Indignant to think they’re not privileged to know.
This usually happens in Clubs or in Guild,
Where limited membership have the self-willed.
It seems, all too often, they’ll voice a demand,
They’re privileged to know, so the rules do not stand.
If someone opposes this, for the “rules” sake,
You then would be hearing “What diff does it make?”
The next thing that happens, in seeking surcease,
The rules will be set aside, “keeping the peace.”
The ones who “demand,” will be “coming on strong;”
And, when it is over, they’ve “done nothing wrong.”
“We all know each other, so what’s the big deal?”
Some rules are just meant to be broken, they feel.
