Poem: Patriots Day 2025

(Monday, April 21 this year)
The concept of freedom, to have and to hold,
To most of the world has no chance to unfold.
Reality patterns its days to extreme;
Thus making the concept of freedom a dream.
What freedom they have will be tightly controlled;
Existing and doing just what they are told.
So freedom to them has no meaning at best;
They live for themselves, doing what they may wrest.
But here is America, freedom’s great voice;
Its laws are enveloped in freedom of choice,
Consistent with honor, to live as they choose;
Their dictated mandate is their right to use.
So patriotism is based on this right;
To guard and to safeguard in freedom’s whole light.
This day is a calling, to patriots all,
Renewing their pledge not to let freedom fall.
This freedom is not free; its message is plain.
Defend it or lose it—\no effort, no gain!
America’s founders have solemnly warned,
Once freedoms are lost, they are but to be mourned!
