At Christmastime, we talk of children being good,
Behaving in a way we like to think they should.
Convincing children to be good is like a bribe—
By using Santa as a force, to then subscribe.
Our satisfaction with this method is well known,
It’s now traditional in that respect alone.
But, strangely, nothing’s ever said about a pet;
And Santa never seems to have a problem yet.
How come? Aren’t pets the guardians of the property,
And instantly react to unknown company?
And coming down a chimney to gain entrance ranks
As solid reason that it isn’t light or pranks.
So there is something about Christmas we must miss,
For Santa does not have the time to deal with this.
But deal with it he must—the only question’s how;
The fact he never has a problem, we ask now!
