More than a dozen volunteers and Aurora city staff members helped to restore a pollinator garden in downtown Aurora Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Abby Schuler, downtown services manager, and Cathy Hayen, downtown horticulturist, organized the planting day to restore a pollinator garden on the East Side of the Fox River behind La Quinta de los Reyes.

Aurora Downtown provided volunteers to help plant 2,000 native plant plugs along the river bank.

Volunteers included representatives from Rebuilding Together Aurora, Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry, and Aurora Downtown.

The pollinator garden includes native plants such as milkweed that attracts monarch butterflies and other pollinators.

Other planting projects have been very successful along the River bank.
