The Quad County African American Chamber of Commerce (QCAACC) announced recently that it has re-launched its Women of Influence (WOI) auxiliary, according to the chairman of the Board of Directors Sherman Jenkins and Sandra Harrison, WOI chairwoman. Saturday, Feb. 4 at the QCAACC’s Annual Scholarship Jazz Brunch at the Hotel Arista in Naperville, a formal announcement will be made, and additional information will be provided.
“The mission of the QCAACC Women of Influence will be to serve entrepreneurial and professional African American women in the Quad Counties of Kane, DuPage Kendall and Will by providing programs, activities, and access to resources and networking events,” said Harrison.
“We have a vision where all women, especially African American women in business, have equal access to resources and opportunities,” Harrison added. “Our vision is to have communities that thrive because women run businesses are in them.”
The WOI auxiliary was initially created 2015, and the auxiliary held many workshops and events catering to the interest and needs of African American women business owners. However, when the Pandemic struck in mid-2020, resources and efforts by WOI were halted to focus the QCAACC’s attention of helping all African American businesses in the quad counties survive.
“Women of Influence will be back stronger with more corporate support from companies such as ComEd to provide timely, quality information and resources to professional women seeking to build or grow their business brand with a focus on supporting African American women,” said Jenkins. “We must move forward and thrive.”
