Progressive Democrat, Rachel Ventura, received the national endorsement from Our Revolution (OR), along with Marie Newman, who is challenging Democrat, Dan Lapinski in Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District Saturday, Jan. 11 during the organization’s State convention.

Ventura is a member of an OR-affiliate group, Will County Progressives (WCP), which endorsed her early in the U.S. Congress race. Another OR-affiliate group in Illinois’ 11th District, Progressives of Kane County (PKC), endorsed her early in 2019. In her 2018 County Board race, Ventura was one of the few candidates to receive a national-level endorsement.

The second endorsement comes from Brand New Congress (BNC), the organization that initially recruited and supported Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) in her 2018 upset race against Joe Crowley. According to the national organization, Ventura received more nominations than any other candidate in the 2020 cycle. Regarding the endorsement, Cory Archibald, chair of Brand New Congress’ board made this statement:

“Our mission is to change the face of Congress to give working people real representation in Washington. Brand New Congress candidates are nominated by members of their community, and we received more nominations for Rachel than any other candidate this cycle. With her compassion and grit, we are thrilled to welcome her to the slate and confident she will be the next congresswoman for the 11th District.”

“It is a great honor to receive these endorsements from organizations that are committed to replacing entrenched lawmakers who have become part of the problem in Washington D.C.,” said Ventura. “I look forward to being a new voice on capital hill who brings bold solutions and the courage to implement them.”

Rachel Ventura has been nationally-endorsed by Blue America PAC and Matriarch PAC.
