I read with interest Marjorie Logman’s amiable letter addressing me in the September 28 edition of “The Voice.” These are my responses to Marjorie and Dave Hoehne. I have not been “taken in” by anyone, including Donald Trump, as you suggest. I am my own person with life experiences and knowledge concerning what I believe and what are my topics.
I was a refugee (with my family) escaping communism at age seven. I understand how powerful governments become tyrannical, imprisoning, and murdering their people, including two of my uncles. I have friends who have escaped communism from Hungary, East Germany, Croatia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Cuba, and Venezuela.
Three of us, in this group of friends, have written books concerning the perils of those evil dictatorships. We’ve compared experiences concerning what is happening in this country today with the countries we come from. Ask the people who have escaped communism to give you their understanding of what is happening in the U.S. today and they will tell you similar things to what I say.
I don’t write my articles out of “fears, dreams, or paranoia” as you suggest. I write to inform Americans to the consequences of a government grown so powerful, corrupt, and so out of control…it crushes civil liberties.
You don’t believe Wayne Johnson hates Donald Trump. I certainly do! Wayne and “The Chas” demonstrate their hate every time they write about the man…..which is most of the time. How you manage to overlook the vile language Wayne continues to spew concerning the former president is amazing!
Example! Wayne included a brief history concerning dictator Mussolini’s death in a recent article in this paper while referencing Trump in the story. Wayne explained how the Italian fascist was dragged through the streets of Giulino di Mezzegra to a place of execution where he was hanged upside down, then beaten to death.
Johnson lamented Trump could not meet his demise in the same way Mussolini had only because Trump is too fat to be dragged through the streets to a place of his execution. You suggest: “Wayne uses his wit and humor to give us a glimpse into who the man (Trump) actually is.” Would you characterize Wayne’s hypothetical history above as “witty or humorous?”
What have you learned from Wayne, “The Chas,” or media concerning who Trump is or what Trump did as president? Did you learn he made us energy independent with $2/gal. gas, that he built a great economy, created border security, gave us tax cuts, lowered interest rates, created NO wars, and put tariffs on China? You have not! You learned Trump was the most despicable man alive who should be dragged through the streets, hanged, and beaten to death if only he wasn’t so fat and other vile things.
You say: “I imagine in my mind 10 years from now sociologists picking up your article and others like them as examples of how good people were persuaded to believe that which has only a taste of truth.”
I hope those sociologists will look at the illegal way Trump was spied upon by a corrupted and politicized FBI and DOJ during Russian collusion. I hope they look at the impeachment over a phone call. I hope they look at the ongoing persecution of the man to prevent him from appearing on a presidential ballot.
I’d like to know how sociologists, in decades to come, will see prosecutors ran for election on campaign promises to jail the former president. Guilty until you prove yourself innocent is the Democratic Party brand of justice.
