Dear editor;
I wish to express my deepest gratitude to those who supported my candidacy in the Kane County Board District 3 Democratic Party primary race. Winning by six votes over the incumbent was stressful, but the higher than normal turnout in our precincts proved to me that people are ready for change.
During the campaign I met a lot of individuals in our community and listened to the concerns being raised. Contrary to what my opponent thought, the main issue was not Republican vs. Democrat, or who was being backed by whom.
The main concern I heard over and over when I knocked on doors was that “We in District 3, the Near East and South Side of Aurora, are hard-working families tired of getting taxed out of our homes and are struggling to keep up in an economy where our wages are not keeping pace with the cost of living”. As a working class person I share the sentiments and plan to do everything I can to help my community.
Even though my opponent has vowed publicly that he is going to contest the results, I am already preparing to take on my new role in January 2019. I have been in contact with current Board members to make sure I have good mentors and that I am fully prepared to hit the ground running.
In my campaign I promised to keep my District informed, to attend Board meetings faithfully, and be prepared to make the best decisions for Aurora.
I look forward to January 2019. In the meantime, I can be reached at
