Dear editor;
Thank you to everyone who joined us this past weekend for my Annual Kids Expo & Touch-A-Truck.
We had such a wonderful turnout, and it was heartwarming to see so many families and children come together to enjoy the day. Kids climbed aboard police cars, fire trucks, and even a helicopter, with wide eyes and big smiles as they explored the vehicles and talked with the men and women who use them to serve our community.

The event also gave families a chance to meet with local organizations, explore educational exhibits, and connect with valuable community resources.
This event is always one of my absolute favorites of the year because it combines fun with learning, while also showcasing the strong spirit of community that makes our area so special. Every year, I’m reminded of how important it is to bring families together for experiences like this, where kids can dream big, learn something new, and simply enjoy a safe, exciting day.
I want to thank all of the dedicated volunteers, local agencies, and partners who helped make the Expo possible, as well as every parent, grandparent, and caregiver who brought the kids out for a memorable day.
And of course, a special thanks goes to Mr. Turtle, who brought along so many pets for the children to meet, he was a true highlight of the day!
Let’s also take a moment to recognize a few special observances September 12. First, it was National Policewoman Day, a time to honor the courageous women in law enforcement who dedicate their lives to serving and protecting our communities. Their contributions and sacrifices make a lasting difference and today is a wonderful opportunity to thank them for their service. It was also the National Day of Encouragement, reminding us of all of the power of a kind word or supportive gesture.
As always, if you have a concern or issue, please feel free to contact my office at 630-585-1308.
