Reader’s Voice: Majority seeking parade not Aurorans

Dear editor;
In a small talk with Aurora’s mayor, Richard Irvin, concerning homosexuality and the Aurora Pride Parade, I warned him to “watch his back”. Too late! Tuesday’s announcement last week of the subject, confirmed the mayor is lost. His words did not suggest compromise. It was surrender.

Attending the parade meeting Saturday, April 13, it was obvious that the leadership was not pleased with the new ordinances. They raised the cost for participants. All the public propaganda implying this parade would advance unity for Aurora was a distraction from their real goal, a government take-over. You cannot unite a community where morals, etched in stone, are on the table. This rupture of morality will continue to bleed along with the abortion war on the unborn.

My question to the chairman was to form a group and participate in the Fourth of July parade. The response was to state plainly, that is not what we are seeking. Well said. The public needs to get that message. More importantly, and let’s spell it out, the unity of the parade will be to unite lesbians, homosexuals, transgenders, cross-dressers, prostitutes, and all leftist voters for abortion.

Some facts I learned was that the leadership had solicited support from roughly 400 businesses. The response was very low. The majority of the attendees at the April 13 meeting was not Aurorans. It was an invasion of comrades in this moral war.

Tough words? Not when you realize what the mayor has done to further divide Aurora, not by choice, but obviously by pressure of his superiors. They admitted social change through politics is a can-do avenue for them to take.

  1. In all my years of dealing with the issues of social justice, I have found that the loudest homophobes tend to have fears of being discovered to be what they most fight. It is not His Honor, Mayor Irvin, who is dividing Aurora. It is the hatred of those who refuse to accept the fact that not everyone is formed from the same “dirt”. I strongly suggest that people stop lumping stereotypes together and start seeing individuals. Someone has to tell certain homophobes that the Crusades are over. We no longer have the right to kill people who think and act differently from what the Crusaders demand. A warning to His Honor to “watch his back” sound to me like a threat. Such a statement to the president would result in arrest and conviction. Does not the Honorable Mayor Irvin deserve the same respect?
