Dear editor;
I respect the First Amendment, which entitles all Americans to demonstrate or speak against our government, be it local or national. But does our beloved First Amendment entitle us to wear a mask or otherwise hide our identity while demonstrating? Why would a demonstrator wear a mask? The only reason I can think of is that he or she plans to break the law and not get caught.
During demonstrations, I saw some individuals damaging cars, property, and sometimes assaulting others, and recently, they almost always wear masks. My question is this: Would it be in violation of the First Amendment to make it illegal to wear a mask while demonstrating? I hope those smarter than I am will weigh in and answer this question. Thank you.
