Dear editor;
I have been a reader of The Voice for more than half of its corporate life. I love the good news and positive slant of this paper. I and several of my friends have advertised our business concerns in The Voice.
When I retired recently and moved out of state, I bought a subscription so as to not miss the happenings of the Fox River Valley. I am sad to report that the U.S. Postal Service has delivered only four issues in the past three months. I know the problem is not at the publisher’s level. The Postal Service Sorting Center in Aurora is not providing the service for which it is paid. I personally have experienced this same incompetence when I tried to do mass mailings for my Fox River Valley-based business.
I am, therefore, calling on the mayor of Aurora, Richard Irvin, the city council of Aurora, the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, State representatives and senators, and all other elected officials who represent Aurorans, to demand an investigation of the operation of the Postal Service Sorting Center in Aurora. Every person in the Valley is negatively affected by this Postal Service inefficiency. Advertisers are not getting their word out. Consumers are not learning of potential savings. Legal notices are not being seen in a timely manor. It is time for the various news media to stand together; do some investigative reporting about official incompetence at the Post Office. Replace the people who can not or will not sort and deliver the mail. Let us all use our voices for change.
