Dear editor;
I agree with Chris Lauzen that name-calling is “Junior High School,” but Mr. Lauzen’s letter in The Voice makes it sound as if only the Democrats are doing it.
The Republicans have become the masters of name-calling. Donald Trump, the face of the modern Republican Party, called the current president “Sleepy Joe” and “Uncle Joe.” He’s called numerous people “nasty,” and he called Ted Cruz’s wife “a dog.”
Trump and others, including regular The Voice commentator, Bill Suhayda, have been calling Kamala Harris “a Communist.”
Vice president Harris is not a Communist. She is a liberal Democrat.
John F. Kennedy was a liberal Democrat. Franklin Roosevelt was a liberal Democrat. Liberal Democrats have led us through the Great Depression, led us through the second world war, led us into space exploration, and fostered the ground-breaking civil rights legislation of the 1960s.
I, myself, am not a Democrat, and I’m not especially liberal. Up to now, I have voted for an equal number of Republicans and Democrats for president. Of course, that was before the MAGA movement infected the Republican party.
I might vote for say, a Jeb Bush, but I will never vote for Donald Trump. I can’t trust Donald Trump.
None of Trump’s wives could trust him. How can we?
