The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Branch 219 in Aurora held its annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, a national event to help end hunger Saturday May 12. Stamp Out Hunger is the largest one-day food drive in the country and this year we are thrilled that NALC Branch 219 collected and donated more than 120,700 pounds of food for our hungry neighbors.
To participate in Stamp Out Hunger, Aurora residents generously loaded non-perishable food items into paper bags distributed by letter carriers and placed them near their mailboxes for pick-up May 12. We are so thankful to all of Aurora’s 200 NALC Branch 219 letter carriers for distributing the bags, picking up the donations, and transporting the food to the Aurora Post Office. We are grateful to the countless Aurora residents who donated food. The letter carriers put in so much hard work for our hungry neighbors, and Aurora residents were so generous, that they definitely deserve a loud round of applause.
The food collected during this year’s Stamp Out Hunger was given to pantries, including Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Green Harvest, Kendall County Community Food Pantry, Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, and Hall Township Food Pantry.
A heartfelt thank you to NALC Branch 219 and everyone involved with the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive for once again helping to end hunger by ensuring that everyone has access to enough nourishing food, thereby helping our overall community stay healthy and productive.
