Dear editor;
I urge the Sugar Grove trustees to read Mary Ochsenschlager’s commentary in The Voice, October 17 Issue. I quote Mary, “New homes, driveways, roads and parking lots create more impervious surfaces, and the pollutants that come with it”.
The Forest Preserve District of Kane County has done an admirable job preserving open space, allowing nature to clean itself and improve the quality of our waterways.
Now the Village trustees are destroying the County’s vision. The Village has approved the Crown Development which will destroy 760 acres of farmland and open space. Under consideration is the expansion of Settler’s Ridge, The Maple Grove Development and the construction of 332 new homes east of Windsor Point. This is a dereliction of duty by the Village to protect our open spaces.
Please support our Forest Preserve District’s vision that open spaces improve the quality of life.
Vote “Yes” for the Land Acquisition and Preserve Improvement Referendum.
