Dear editor;

As many of you are floundering over who to vote for, Joe Biden or Donald Trump, I say choose what to vote for, democracy or fascism.

As a child, the poem “If”, plaque hung on the wall of our kitchen. I spent a lot of time pondering its words when I ironed, cooked, and cleaned, to help my Mom who was at work and I had a lot of time alone to think. The beginning starts: “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you; if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, but make allowance for their doubting too…” and concludes with “Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And, which is more, you’ll be a Man, my son!’.

These words guided me throughout my life to do the right thing by others.

As long as you live your truth to do your best, while obeying the Golden Rule and taking care of others as you would yourself, including our land, you are on the right track.

Trump has depicted on his Truth-Social what his return to the White House would look like: The Unified Reich, which refers to Adolph Hitler’s Third Reich which occurred 1933-1945. Trump’s puppet-masters have prepared a playbook for him to follow if elected again: Project 2025, to turn our democracy into a fascist state. Learn about it.

Maya Angelou said, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”

A vote for Biden is democracy and environmental stewardship. A vote for Trump is fascism and planetary devastation.

Choose wisely.
