More than 2 Million attendees across all three locations
The Christkindlmarkets Chicago, Wrigleyville, and Aurora (organized by German American Events, LLC) announced an astounding turnout, welcoming over two million visitors across all three iconic locations during the 2023 season.
Daley Plaza, the flagship location in the heart of downtown Chicago, was open daily between November 17th and December 24th and saw an unprecedented surge in attendance, totaling an impressive 1.3 million visitors.
The Wrigleyville location, as part of Wintrust Winterland at Gallagher Way, welcomed nearly 480,000 visitors with its daily offerings between November 17th and December 31st.
The Christkindlmarket Aurora at RiverEdge Park, which was open Thursdays – Sundays with special hours during the last week, celebrated its second year and was host to 240,000 visitors, a large increase of almost 100,000 guests compared to its inaugural event.
“What a wonderful season,” said CEO and general manager Maren Biester Priebe. “We are immensely grateful to each and every visitor and hope that their time with us was filled with magical moments that created cherished memories.”
Several milestones and highlights contributed to the success of the markets, including the introduction of the first-ever German and Austrian wine tasting event, glassblowing demonstrations, interactive photo opportunities, location-specific mugs, and much more. Additionally, the market garnered nationwide attention with coverage on esteemed platforms such as Good Morning America, further amplifying its reach and influence.
The Christkindlmarket Team extends their heartfelt appreciation to all vendors, sponsors, partners, city officials, and contractors whose unwavering support and dedication played a pivotal role in building a one-of-a-kind experience.
