Recycling Center opens Saturdays in Batavia

Kane County is pleased to announce that as of October 30, the Recycling Center at 517 E. Fabyan Parkway in Batavia will be open Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon, in addition to their regular Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. business hours. This offers an opportunity for those who cannot make it during the weekday hours.

The Kane County Recycling Centers in West Dundee and Aurora will continue to maintain Monday through Friday hours as always, and will not have any weekend hours at this point.

Recycling Center details:

• Aurora, VetTech (at the old Specialty Textile Group building) 911 N Lake Street, Aurora. Turn down driveway on east side of Lake Street, across from Northgate Shopping Center) Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m..

• Batavia – Fabyan Parkway, 517 E. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon.

• West Dundee Public Works, 900 Angle Tarn, West Dundee, Monday – Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m..

Accepted items:

• Appliances: household appliances, but no freon- containing devices;

• Clothing and textiles: Accepted items list;

• Christmas/holiday lights;

• Electronics: Accepted items list. (Note: cost for TVs and monitors);

• Scrap metal:

Monitors (all types, flat screen or glass tube) and TVs/televisions (all types, all ages, flat screen or glass tube) do have a cost to recycle. All other materials are free.

• $25. fee for screens under 21 inches (measured diagonally);

• $35. fee for screens 21 inches or over (measured diagonally).
