Wesley United Methodist Church (UMC), 14 N. May Street in Aurora, will welcome the Reverend Tammy Scott as incoming pastor Sunday, July 2.
Services are held online at 9:30 a.m. and in-person at 10:30 a.m..
The public is invited. Admission is free, although a free-will offering will be accepted.
Rev. Scott, former lead pastor at Sugar Grove UMC, succeeds Rev. John Bell who is moving to Louisville, Ky., after 10 years of ministry at Wesley. He is serving as Wesley pastor through June 30.
Rev. Scott will be welcomed at a post-worship reception said Kathy Breazeale, chairperson, Wesley Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
As part of the transition process, the new pastor will meet congregants at home gatherings in August and September.
A dozen volunteers are being sought to host gatherings for eight to 10 persons with refreshments.
The incoming pastor is a native of Lockport. In addition to Sugar Grove UMC, Scott has served Methodist churches in Joliet, Wilmette, Bolingbrook, Minooka, and Naperville. She is the chair person of the UMC Northern Illinois Conference Council on Finance and Administration.
Her ministry areas of focus have included children, youth, families, administration, Bible studies, and confirmation.
Rev. Scott holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois-Chicago and a master of divinity degree from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston. She was ordained a Methodist elder in 2021.
Rev. Scott’s family includes identical twin girls, Hannah and Haylee, who are in second grade.
