The Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 will be host to the 2022 13th Annual LaSalle Street Historic Auto Show Sunday, July 3, on South LaSalle Street, Aurora. The registration for the Auto Show will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a presentation and National Anthem at noon and awards presented at 2:30 p.m..

In light of the City of Aurora’s cancelling the July 4th Parade, the Legion will welcome anyone who would like to come by and celebrate our Nation’s Independence Day with our Veterans July 3. Parade entries can come and pass out their items to visitors and park their floats on LaSalle Street.

“We are so honored to be hosting this annual patriotic event that supports our veterans and properly honors our Nation’s Independence Day on July 3rd,” stated Commander Mike Eckburg.

“There are many needs of the veteran community, and we appreciate all the support we have been given to continue to provide services for these heroes of our Armed Forces.

The Roosevelt Aurora American Legion Post 84 appreciates the beauty of this historic area of downtown Aurora which was formerly called “Auto Row”. In building on the historical significance of this block, the Roosevelt-Aurora Post 84 is one of the oldest American Legions in the Nation.

This year is expected to be bigger and better. All proceeds of the auto show will go to the Roosevelt-Aurora Post 84 to continue supporting Aurora area veterans. The auto show will support scholarships for veterans and their families with food provided by Strawberry BBQ along with ice cream and prizes at 2:30 p.m..

The Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 was founded in 1919, and is one of the oldest posts in the State. The name is in memory of Quentin Roosevelt, the youngest son of U.S. president Theodore Roosevelt, who was killed in World War I in aerial combat over France on Bastille Day (July 14, 1918). They have a membership of more than 200 members and meet on the second Friday of every month at 8 a.m. at their office space at 1 E Benton Street, Aurora IL 60506.
