For the first time in school history, Rosary College Prep’s All Girls Math Team earned first place overall at the ICTM Regional Math Contest held February 27 securing a spot at the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) State Finals Saturday, April 18.
Competing against top regional schools, Rosary students delivered an exceptional performance across multiple events, earning numerous individual and team honors while capturing the overall top spot in the region.
“This result reflects the dedication, curiosity, and perseverance of our students,” said Sarah Hoying, math department chair at Rosary College Prep. “They put in countless hours practicing challenging problems and supporting one another as a team. Watching them collaborate, think creatively, and rise to the challenge at regionals was incredibly rewarding.”
Rosary’s success included multiple individual placements and first-place finishes in several team categories.
With the regional title secured, the team now advances to the ICTM State Finals on April 18, which will be held at Illinois State University, where they will compete against the top schools from across the entire state of Illinois.
•March 2026 Rosary College Prep’s Ensemble earned a Division I rating, the highest possible distinction, at the IHSA Solo & Ensemble Competition March7. This is the 13th year in a row that Rosary’s Ensemble has earned a Division I rating. Rosary’s Ensemble consists of 11 girls from sophomores to seniors.
The IHSA Solo & Ensemble Competition provides student musicians from across Illinois the opportunity to showcase their musical skills before professional adjudicators. Earning a Division I rating signifies superior performance and mastery of the selected repertoire.
“We are incredibly proud of these students and the passion they bring to their music,” said Ms. Sara Caligiuri, Rosary’s vocal director. “Consistency and collaboration are key traits of our Ensemble, and it is an honor to have their talent recognized with the highest division rating.”
In addition to Ensemble, Rosary had 17 students participate in the solo competition in either the vocal or instrumental category. A total of 16 students earned a Division I rating, and one student received a Division II rating. “Their dedication, preparation, and musicianship were on full display, and we are proud to see their hard work rewarded in these exceptional results,” said Ms Amy McMahon, head of school.
