Aurora Advent Christian Church, 905 N. Edgelawn Drive in Aurora, will hold a rummage-sale fundraiser, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10.

The public is invited. Parking is free.

Pastor Matt Mull said sale items include toys, games/puzzles, electronics, office and craft supplies, holiday decorations, jewelry, bedding, linens, luggage, DVDs, VHS tapes, small appliances, books, lamps and outdoor equipment.
Proceeds will benefit a community-service trip by nine congregants, three adults and six youth, to Pittsburgh, Pa., July 18-23.

Sponsored by the Church’s Truth and Testimony (TNT) youth group, the trip is under the auspices of Loveland, Colo.-based Group Mission Trips, a nonprofit, international, ecumenical, volunteer-driven organization. It brings together youth ages 10–20 and adults ages 21 and older for weeklong domestic and international Summer work camps. More than 15,000 participants serve annually through home repair, community service and international mission trips.

According to the Reverend Mull, the group will be housed in a local church or school where they will sleep on air mattresses or in sleeping bags. Volunteers will serve local churches and ministries.

Rev. Mull explained, “We won’t know until we arrive what our assignments will be. This approach allows us to be flexible and willing to serve where needed, rather than in an area that is easy or comfortable.

“We will be working with children to elderly to special-needs people to serve them through kids’ clubs and vacation Bible school-type programs including art and other activity-based programs.

“We may also clean up yards or alleyways. We are excited to go and serve in any way the people of Pittsburgh need,” said Rev. Mull.

Monetary donations to fund trip expenses are welcome. Call 630-896-1963 or visit auroraadvent.org for more information.
