Former Northern Illinois University pitcher Ryan Anderson (Palatine) signed a professional contract with the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League, the team announced Monday.
Anderson’s won-loss record with Northern Illinois this season was 3-3 in 12 appearances and started eight games He struck out 31 batters in 49.2 innings pitched. May 1, Anderson allowed just two runs on six hits over six innings in the Huskies’ 11-2 victory over Akron University at Ralph McKinzie Field in DeKalb when Northern Illinois swept a doubleheader. He threw his first complete game victory one week later in Northern Illinois’ 5-2 victory over Western Michigan. Anderson allowed just three hits and struck out four Broncos. Nate Thomas signed with the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League July 13 and made his debut on July 20.
