Naperville councilman, Kevin Coyne, has formed Safe DuPage, an organization that will raise public awareness to a host of issues relating to crime and public safety. Safe DuPage will raise concerns, educate the public, and be an advocate for legislation aimed at the following policy issues:
• Recreational marijuana stores and, specifically, those stores attempting to find locations in DuPage County communities.
• Gun violence and the high percentage of gun offenses committed by repeat offenders.
• Social equity and the disproportionate impact gun violence has on minorities and the economically-disadvantaged.
• The failures of the Cook County criminal justice system and how those failures are impacting residents in DuPage County.
• The strong ties between substance abuse and crime.
Safe DuPage will have town hall meetings and rallies on these topics. Safe DuPage has a Facebook fan page (Safe DuPage) that is actively posting information.
A website is under construction at www.safedupage.com and the facebook page is at www.facebook.com/safedupage.
Let’s work together to keep DuPage County a safe place for all!
