Santa, markets part of holiday Saturdays in downtown Aurora Dec 2, 9 and 16

The first three Saturdays of December in downtown Aurora will have lots of holiday happenings. The Aurora Downtown group of business and property owners announced a flurry of events December 2, 9 and 16.

Art and Market Aurora will be open Saturday, Dec. 2 and 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Society 57, 100 S. River Street. The indoor market will feature two dozen, rotating local makers at each market. It’s free to enter. Free parking is available across the street at Santori Public Library. 

The market will feature gifts and treats for the holidays as well as local artists. 

Santa at the Museum will be Saturdays, December 2 and 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Aurora Regional Fire Museum, 53 N. Broadway. Free photos will be available for download the following week on Aurora Downtown’s Facebook page. The event is open to all ages and abilities. Bring a letter for Santa’s mailbox. 

View snow globe storefronts throughout downtown. This year, a dozen businesses decorated their windows in the theme. Pure Skin Solutions won the window decorating contest presented at Winter Lights.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will continue at Paramount Theatre through January 14. A Christmas Carol is being performed from December 8 through December 17 at The Riverfront Playhouse.

The Venue, 21 S. Broadway, will be host to three holiday shows including Gary Hoey’s Ho Ho Hoey Rockin’ Christmas Show Thursday, Dec. 7; Pete Ellman Big Band’s Twelve Grooves of Christmas Friday, Dec. 15, and New Year’s Eve Show with Lil’ Ed and The Blues Imperials Sunday, Dec. 31. 

Christkindlmarket will continue at RiverEdge Park through December 24. 

Downtown shops and restaurants will be open for holiday shopping and dining.
