When things get tough, serve BBQ, and make pie!
That has been a winning strategy of Senior Services Associates for many years, and they certainly know how to put the fun in fundraisers!
Senior Services Associates in Kendall, Kane, and McHenry Counties are a senior citizen’s best friend, offering information and Assistance, care coordination, transportation, friendly visitor assistance, elder abuse protection, Nursing Home Ombudsman service, volunteerism, and educational opportunities. Two events are scheduled in coming weeks to help them offer these great services.
Coming up September 1, Senior Services Associates of Kendall County will be host to the Thursday night kick-off of the Yorkville Hometown Days Festival at Beecher Park, 901 Game Farm Road, Yorkville.
Since 2017, Senior Services Associates has been happy to be a part of the Yorkville Hometown Days celebration. Proceeds from this event benefit seniors in Kendall County through support of the services offered at Senior Services Associates, 908 Game Farm Road, Yorkville.
5B’s BBQ Pork and chicken dinners will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with live music from the Yorkville Big Band featured from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. under the big top. Dinners are $16 each, or two dinners for $30. Meals can be purchased for dine in or drive through. Enjoy great music, dancing, a 50/50 raffle and prizes. Non-alcoholic drinks and desserts will be available for purchase that evening. Tickets can be purchased at Senior Services Associates.
Coming up later in the Fall, Friday, Nov. 18, after a three-year hiatus, Senior Services Associates, in Aurora is recreating the deliciously fun and creative Pie Auction characterized by amazingly inventive Pies, extravagant auction baskets and exceptional food and drink. This year’s theme is a Masquerade Party!
The Annual Pie Auction Fundraiser benefits seniors in Kane County, scheduled just before the Thanksgiving holiday so that participants can get an opportunity to buy and then bring amazing pie creations to their own holiday events. It is a great chance to stock up on holiday gifts, because the silent auction and live auction items are astounding. Senior Services is fortunate to have the support of local senior provider businesses who help their cause through donations of auction items. The event traditionally features cash and carry pies, miniature pies, bar service, sit down dinner, silent and live auction, and dancing!
The Pie Auction will start at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Belle Salle Banquet Hall, 1920 E. New York Street. Tickets are $50 each, Seniors can purchase tickets for $45 each, and a table of ten is just $450. To have these two opportunities to help seniors in our region while enjoying an evening out with good friends, good food, and great entertainment, seems to be a dream come true!
Senior Services Associates is a non-profit agency dedicated to sustaining and improving the quality of life for individuals aged 60 and older, the disabled, and their caregivers, by providing access to the social services they need, dedicated to preserving their independence, promoting mental and physical well-being, and protecting their rights and dignity.
There are not many special events that can boast to offer benefits such as these. From experience, I can honestly say you will have a wonderful time and come away with amazing memories, while supporting these important causes.
