Seniors flock to health expos in St. Charles, Warrenville

Hundreds of suburban senior citizens attended at free expos showcasing goods and services September 16 and 17 in St. Charles and Warrenville.

September 16, State senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) hosted his event from 10 a.m. to noon at Pottawatomie Community Center in St. Charles. Approximately 50 agencies and organizations specializing in needs of seniors participated.

In addition to vendor booths, seniors were offered vaccinations, blood pressure and cholesterol checks, body mass index screenings, glucose screenings, I-PASS transponder updates, and transportation information by PACE and RTA.

The September 17 Active Senior Expo convened at Courtyard Banquets in Warrenville. Show hours were 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m..

Offerings included health care, retirement communities, assisted living, financial, insurance, legal, estate planning, home care, consumer products, and government programs.

Features included free health screenings and door prize drawings, live music entertainment and seminars on energy efficiency and Medicare. Free limes, lemons and other produce was available at an indoor farmer’s market by BlueCross BlueShield.
