In the Marvelous Real art in Batavia
“In the Marvelous Real” by Chris Hodge and Cynthia Hellyer Heinz will be on display at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at Water Street Studios, 160 South Water Street, Batavia.
Pairing the work of two artists with exquisite technical abilities who share a devotion to the exploration of the human effort of self-definition will be the focus. Chris Hodge crafts portraits of the corruption of spirit and slavish preoccupation with superficial externalities. Cynthia Hellyer Heinz studies the interstice between truth and the fabulous where idiosyncratic personal stories are woven from meticulously rendered aggregations of the brutal every-day and exalted eternal.
On the 2nd Floor Gallery at Water Street Studios, “Innocent Dawn” by Roger Carlson will explore the relationship between humans and the afterlife which will feature reverse paintings on Plexiglas using a variety of mediums.
The items will be on display through Saturday, Nov. 3.
