Seven high school football teams in The Voice area of interest remain undefeated after six weeks, and have clinched playoff berths, each with a 6-0 record: Glenbard East, IC Catholic Prep, Lisle, Montini, Oswego, Oswego East, and Willowbrook. Three weeks remain for other teams to clinch playoff berths with six victories. The playoffs will begin October 26 following announcement of pairings Saturday, Oct. 20.

• DeKalb High School has accepted an invitation to become a part of the DuPage Valley Conference in the 2019-2020 school year. DeKalb is in its last school year in the Northern Illinois Big 12, which will disband. DeKalb dallied with both the Upstate Eight Conference and the DuPage Valley Conference. The Upstate Eight will stay 10 teams after West Aurora joins the Southwest Prairie Conference with last week’s acceptance of Fenton High School in Bensenville, this year a member of the Metro Suburban Conference Red Division. The DuPage Valley, which has five teams this year, invited DeKalb to make it six. The DeKalb School Board’s next meeting will be Monday, Oct. 8 to act on the invitation. DeKalb athletic director Peter Goff said the mileage would be a little less than for games with the NIB12 sites. Yorkville has been accepted into the Southwest Prairie and Kaneland will join the revamped Interstate Eight Conference in the 2019-2020 school year.

• Boys soccer and boys and girls golf will swing into the first steps of postseason tournament play, however, here are a few football facts: “We are playing for a (NIB12East) conference championship, a playoff berth, and it is their homecoming,” Kaneland head coach Patrick Ryan said this week about the game at Yorkville between two 5-1 teams.

• Montini head coach Michael Bukovsky, following the team’s 28-27 comeback victory over stellar Loyola: “Our defense played very well and gave up only one touchdown; our senior (U of I) commit, Nick Fedanzo, scored on a 99-yard kickoff return.”

• Plano plays for bragging rights and a possible playoff berth against Sandwich, each 3-3. Plano head coach Brad Kunz: “(Senior LB) Connor Kensel is quietly fourth in the State in tackles with 92.”

• Batavia head coach Dennis Piron: “(QB) Jack Meyers is growing quickly as a leader and player.”
