What causes evolution? Honestly, what does?
What brings it to what is today from what it was?
It’s Nature’s way–allowing species to exist;
A safeguard for prolonging life—sheer death, if missed.
All this is known, but…what triggers this dire change?
Most all these needed changes have a narrow range,
The size, strength, shape, and form essential to its needs,
How does the creature know how evolution feeds?
And then, the element of time to stay alive—
While waiting for the change, how does it then survive?
Like bird bills–short, or long and straight, or long and curved;
Just what determines that?—the needed function served.
For Nature, by itself, has no respect for life;
No matter what the circumstance, portent, or strife.
The source must come from somewhere, succinct, quick, unflawed
Acknowledging the obvious, of course, it’s God!
