I’m glad that I was taught two nickels make a dime,
And five of them will make a quarter every time.
Four quarters make a dollar, meaning I can count
On being confident determining amount.
Today, however, kids may not be taught that way,
In counting money in their heads, in every day
Necessities, to be unable to make change,
Be slow or even ignorant in average range.
One is not being taught to count things in one’s head;
Arithmetic is being “taught” with calculators instead.
What other technological “advancements” reign?
No wonder far too many cannot use their brain.
