The Sugar Grove Public Library is a partner with Waubonsee Lifelong Learning Institute and will be host to a Spring art display in Gallery 125. The public is invited to an opening reception Sunday, April 7 at 2:30 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
The reception will provide an opportunity to browse the art, meet the artists, and learn more about techniques used.
“This exhibition reflects the Library’s dedication to strengthening the cultural economy of our community, and partnering with other organizations to create new opportunities in valuable civic spaces,” said Shannon Halikias, library director.
“Promoting inter-generational programming reflects our commitment to serving all segments of our resident population.”
Lifelong Learning Institute is an open membership organization for adults over age 50, actively engaged in the pursuit of knowledge. In a stimulating peer-learning environment, members plan, lead, and participate in courses and activities. The open arts studio classes reflect the values, mission, and vision of LLI while pursuing hands-on learning in the media of their choice. Students learn by sharing ideas, skills, and inspirations. Presentations by guest artists and discussions enrich the learning experiences.
The works exhibited in Gallery 125 include efforts from 16 artists and about 36 pieces in multi-media creative pursuits. A display book will provide biographical information, and contact information in the event that a member of the public would like to purchase a piece. The exhibit will be available until late May.
