Oswegoland Woman’s Civic Club will close its 90th year of community service to Oswegoland with a salad pot luck meeting and white elephant exchange Wednesday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m., at 6:30 p.m., at Holiday Inn Express, 2055 Wiesbrook Drive, Oswego.
Our 90th year anniversary proclamation was read in its entirety at the Village of Oswego Board Meeting of April 17 by Village president Gail Johnson, at which time we received a standing ovation. We are even amazed at all the good this Club has done over 90 years and we thank the Village for that recognition.
We will be presenting Summer program Campership Scholarships in art, music, drama, and math to eighth grade junior high students May 23 and May 24.
Hands of Hope will go to Dreyer cancer patients because we have collected enough for treat bags to last over the Summer. This special program was started by deceased member Sylvia Johnson and since has been provided by the dedication of Carole Houck and her band of happy helpers, the MORE Group from Celebrate Differences.
Mutual Ground, Inc. gratefully received Mother’s Day gift bags full of goodies for the moms there to be remembered, thanks to Judy Smith, Kathy Guseman, Carole Houck, and the rest of the members who contributed to this effort.
Art appreciation donations will go to the elementary school representatives who will be in attendance at the meeting and have not yet received them.
Dinner with Friends continues over the Summer on the first Wednesday of the month, a sharing time for members. As always donations will be accepted for Kendall County Community Food Pantry.
