Six elected officials of the 103rd Illinois General Assembly were honored this week for stalwart work in passing legislation that directly impacted the city of Aurora.
Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin presented the Mayor’s Award of Excellence to the six legislators representing Aurora in the Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois Senate.
“We appreciate our partners at the State level who help us to move Aurora forward,” said Irvin. “As the second-largest city in Illinois, our representation in the general assembly is key to our success. We thank each of you for being a stalwart voice for your districts, the Aurora community, and the people of Illinois.”
Awards were presented to Representatives Barbara Hernandez (50th District), Matt Hanson (83rd District), Stephanie Kifowit (84th District), and Maura Hirschauer (49th District); and Senators Linda Holmes (42nd District) and Karina Villa (50th District).
“Wow, this is a really nice recognition,” said Senator Holmes. “While this wasn’t expected or required, it is very nice to be appreciated. Together, we passed key legislation that will long impact our community.”
The legislators were lauded for passing several bills, including Senate Bill 107 and House Bill 3902 – the Drones as First Responders Act; Senate Bill 1754 -Police Training-Out-of-State; and House Bill 3095 – EPA-Limestone Material.
