Dear editor;
I am writing in strong support of Mavis Bates, candidate for Kane County Board District 4. There are many reasons why I support Mavis Bates, but the primary ones are:
Mavis has a long history of volunteer community service. She literally has donated thousands of hours to the community she loves. She is the founder and chair of Aurora GreenFest which celebrates sustainability in Aurora. Therefore, it is no surprise she was named to Aurora mayor Richard Irvin’s Advisory Board on Sustainability where she created a new battery recycling program. In addition, Mavis has served on the Board of Directors for United Way; is on the SHARE fundraising Committee for Mutual Ground and is an elected Commissioner for the Fox Valley Park District. These are a few of the many ways Mavis has given her time and talents to Aurora.
Kane County, similar to many municipalities, is struggling financially because of COVID-19. Mavis worked for Lucent Technology where she effectively managed a team and its large budget for many years. As a commissioner for the Fox Valley Park District she oversees their vast resources. Mavis will bring expertise in budget management to the Kane County Board.
For the past 15 years Mavis has been a health-care professional and is committed to supporting the Kane County Health Department. She envisions a Health Department that will continue to provide excellent resources for the health and safety of the residents of Kane County.
Please join me in my support of Mavis Bates by voting for her for Kane County Board District 4.
