Here is a note of thanks from the Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora on its second annual “A Night on at the Barn” fundraiser Friday, June 24 at Blackberry Farm in Aurora: The fundraiser was a success.
• Thanks to those who sold and/or became a sponsor of our event. This year’s Sponsorships raised more than $8,000!
• Thanks to those who donated baskets, gift cards, and made cash donations. There were 35 baskets and more than 25 gift cards donated this year!
• Thanks to those who sold and/or purchased 50/50 Raffle Tickets. This year’s winner received $750!
• Thanks to those who sold and purchased tickets to the event. This year’s attendance was down compared to last year, possibly caused by the hot weather. Next year the barn is scheduled to be air conditioned!
• Thanks to our master of ceremonies, Chuck Nelson. A job well done!
• Special thanks to Tony and Mary Arch for all the printed materials, Al Benson and Carter Crane from The Voice, the Fox Valley Park District and the Blackberry Farm staff members, Len Augustyn and “The Magneto’s” ‘50s & ‘60s classic rock band, along with a few vocals by Arlene Hawks, and Ron Woerman, and Spartan House for food and beverages.
• A very special thanks to this year’s co-chairpersons, Donna Carter and LaVonne Hawking, for their leadership of our Club’s major fundraiser.
Our Club had a very successful evening, barring the hot weather, and smaller than expected turn out. Here’s just a few of the positives: I heard of possibly four new members who will be joining our Club…..we have found a family in need of a Diabetic Alert Dog, several of this year’s sponsors indicated they will repeat their sponsorship next year, and we have built some new friendships, that will truly benefit our Club.
Thanks again for all your support, as we continue to make a difference.
